Focus more on Soft skills than Domain Knowledge

Present education system is focussing more on domain knowledge than soft-skills which creates problems for the industry to find intellignent and creative human resources for various field. In order to be successfull in future developing right kind of skills among students is equally necessary to make them successfull citizens. These were the views presented by the experts in the One day seminar organised by Post Graduate Department of Business Innovations for the students of M.Com Business Innovations and M.Com (General). Er. Anshuman Khullar, a civil engineer by profession and also trainer of soft skills was invited as resource person to interact with the students. Er. Anshuman outline four major abilities to be developed among students to be successfull they are : Ability to focus and relax at same time, ability to take decisions, ability to be confident and ability to handle emotions. He said that our emotions are connected with our breathing system, if we control them we can control our emotions too. He also emphasised that that as per the Oxfor University survey only 15% importance is required for domain knowledge and 85% focus must be on the development of softr skills. DR. Amit Kumar, a doctor by profession from Dayanand Medical College (DMC) Ludhiana while speaking on the occassion said that it was the soft skills only which made him a successfull person in the life. While speaking on the occassion, Programme Coordinator of the Business Innovations department, Dr. Ashwani Bhalla said that M.Com Business Innovations programme of the University Grants Commission is totally focussed on the development of the soft skills among the students in a innovative manner to make them more employable. He cited the examples of successful students of the department who were earlier very shy but after completing the course their lives seems to be changed in a postive direction. Around 150 students of the Business Innovations and Commerce department attended the seminar. The seminar was organised in association with YES+ an associate of World Alliance for Youth Empowerment (WAYE). Principal of the College Prof Rajinder Singh appreciated the effort of the Business Innovations Department for organising creative academic activities for the benefit of the students. On this occassion Dr. Ujjalbir Singh, Head of the Commerce department, Prof Harblas Heera , Prof Geetika , other faculty members and Dr . Tarun Kumar local coordinator of World Alliance for Youth Empowerment (WYE) were also present..
