Cool cop

January 14, 2012 (7starnews)

For actor Kay Kay Menon, the journey is always more important than the destination. Kay Kay, who has to his credit films such as Hazaar Khwaishen Aisi, Black Friday, Life…In a Metro and Gulaal, confesses that that\'s why his checklist for signing a film includes the strength of the script, the vision of the director and his co-stars. "The journey simply has to be interesting. I can\'t simply do something for the sake of money," says the actor whose film Chaalis Chauraasi hit the screens on January 13.

Hriday Shetty\'s Chaalis Chauraasi features Kay Kay as Albert Pinto, a cop who incidentally does not get angry unlike the popular film title Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyon Ata Hai? He laughs at the mention of the movie. "In fact, I get angry rather easily. Not this Albert Pinto. All the characters in the film are named after classic movies — Naseeruddin Shah is called Sir, Ravi (Kishan) is Shakti and Atul, Bobby."

Kay Kay says he was urged to sign up for the film on the basis of its story and Hriday\'s perspective on it. "As soon as I listened to Hriday\'s narration, I knew we were in safe hands. When I got to know of the cast, I was sure I didn\'t want to miss an opportunity to work with them."

Asked about his most challenging performances, Kay Kay replies, "I don\'t see roles as challenging. It sounds too negative. Something like scaling Mount Everest — which it is not. Instead I like to call them interesting. For instance, my role in Chaalis Chauraasi is very, very interesting."

Kay Kay has another cop thriller Enemmy by Ashu Trikha releasing this year. It is also reportedly about four undercover CID sleuths. His other film this year is from the Ram Gopal Varma stable — Rakesh Mehta\'s Life Ki Toh Lag Gayi. The man, who is very choosy when it comes to work, says, "I am just picking up what appeals to me. If it works, then it\'s great. I feel a great sense of achievement," he adds.
