The Congress party got a major shot in arm when 20 Akali families joined Congress in presence of Congress contesting candidate from Dhuri, Arvind Khanna. He questioned the current SAD-BJP regime over its step motherly treatment meted out to the farmers of the state, what it did for the welfare of the farmers during the tenure of 5 years.
He said that the welfare of the farmers has always been a top priority of the Congress party and the state will once again become prosperous and well developed during the Congress reign. He also condoled the death of Bhagwan Dass, brother of BL Kalia, principal of Arya Public School who had died in a road accident.Arvind Khanna's wife Shagun Khanna is also on a campaigning spree and addressing 15 to 20 meetings daily with the women electorate of the Dhuri assembly segment. She appealed the women to vote for Arvind Khanna and said that Umeed foundation will also open a camp for the residents of Dhuri and serve for the welfare of the people.
