Liquor recovered from Bibi Jagir Kaur’s relative,case registered

KAPURTHALA,Saturday, 14 January 2012

A tempo of liquor belonging to Bibi Jagir Kaur, SAD-BJP candidate from Bholath was Friday seized by the police. A case has been registered against Bibi Jagir Kaur and five others. Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur said this case was made out of political rivalry.

As per the reports, SHO Harbhajan Singh of Bholath police station while checking vehicles at a check post intercepted a truck carrying 210 cartons of liquor. The driver revealed that the liquor belonged to Yadwinder Singh Bunti, wine contractor and nephew of SAD candidate Bibi Jagir Kaur. Bunti reached the spot and explained that he had relevant documents in his possession including permit of liquor whereas the excise department said that the liquor is illicit as it has been confiscated outside the Bholath circle.

Truck carrying illegal liquorInterestingly, the truck carried the election campaigning posters of Bibi Jagir Kaur. The Congress candidate Sukhpal Singh Khaira also reached at the checkpost and alleged that the liquor was meant to woo the voters. The police has registered a case against Bibi Jagir Kaur, her son-in-law Yuvraj Bhupinder Singh, daughter Rajneet Kaur, Yadwinder Singh Bunti, Bunti's mother Kulwant Kaur and Malkit Singh Thunia.
