No political bias in report: Goldman

NEW DELHI: Global investment banking giant Goldman Sachs said on Friday its report on India contains no political bias as the commerce and industry minister Anand Sharma slammed its views, terming it as \"most inappropriate and objectionable\".

The November 5 report, titled \'Modi-fying our view: Raise India to Marketweight\', has triggered a controversy with ruling party leaders questioning the contents and the reference to Modi and his impact on the sentiment of investors in the stock market.

\"Part of our role as a securities firm is to provide objective, impartial and independent research that explains to investors the fundamental reasons driving market sentiment and direction, including relevant political factors,\" Goldman Sachs spokesperson Edward Naylor said in a statement.
