Sidhu meets Shanta in Delhi, puts forward grievances

BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu, who is on a collision course with the ruling Badals these days over the issue of development work in Amritsar, met Punjab BJP affairs incharge Shanta Kumar at the Himachal Bhawan in New Delhi on Thursday.

Shanta Kumar told The Indian Express that the meeting lasted for two hours. \"I listened to him (Sidhu\'s grievances). The matter would be sorted out amicably,\" Shanta Kumar said while refusing to say anything specific. \"Main sirf itna kahunga ki mamla jald suljha liya jayega (I would only say that the matter would be soon sorted out),\" Kumar re-iterated when asked about his take on the gravity of Sidhu\'s grievances.

Kumar had told Sidhu to brief him about all the issues that the three-time BJP MP had been raising through the media. \"I have submitted my grievances in writing and Shanta Kumarji has assured me that they will be resolved very soon,\" Sidhu said, adding that he gave a detailed account of how seven projects pursued by him were \"scuttled\"; how he was not taken into confidence by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal when the latter recently inaugurated development works for the holy city; the Municipal Corporation polls issue (where cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia and Sidhu were locked in a verbal war over appointment of the Amritsar mayor and Sidhu had also alleged that SAD fielded rebel candidates against the BJP nominees).

\"I also raised the matter of the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal\'s remarks on the issue and the Akali workers boycotting my wife\'s functions (CPS (health) Dr Navjot Kaur Sidhu),\" Sidhu said.
