Shahid Kapoor: Films with Kareena Kapoor? Have no issues

New Delhi: He is one of the few actors in Bollywood who show no inhibitions in speaking about his past break-ups, weirdest dating rumors and the not-so-successful phase in his professional life. The actor, who has been part of successful movies, doesn\'t feel the need of bragging about his accomplishments, just as he doesn\'t think it is essential for him to declare how he is misunderstood, at times. In an exclusive interview to us, Shahid Kapoor, who plays the protagonist in Rajkumar Santoshi\'s \'Phata Poster Nikhla Hero\' which also features Ileana D\'cruz, speaks on working with Kareena Kapoor, how the lukewarm response to \'Mausam\' changed his life and what made him take decisions on his own. Curious to know about reactions to \'Phata Poster Nikhla Hero\': I have been so busy telling people about the film that I haven\'t been able to keep myself updated about the response the film. Give me a high five! This is the first time that I have done a comic character and been a part of film which has typical \'hero wali\' entry or \'hero wale comments\'. That\'s why I\'m curious to know how people will react to this film. For me it has been the most entertaining film till now. When we had a group narration with Rajkumar Santoshi, everybody was in splits. Since I\'m doing a film after a year, being back with his film is the best thing that could have happened to me. Shahid Kapoor speaks on coming to terms with his failures, thoughts on working with Kareena, and changing his success strategy. Nargis Fakhri was a bundle of nerves: Yes, it is true that Nargis was nervous while doing \'Dhatting Naach\'. Nargis and I aren\'t so much in touch with each other. She isn\'t one of those friends I\'d hangout with. I met her when we were rehearsing \'Dhatting Naach\'. But every time we meet we are nice to each other. Last year, Nargis was present at my birthday bash in Goa. She just happened to drop in there with her group of friends. There were rumors of her moving in to my apartment too. But you will always hear of rumors about me. I go out to watch a movie with a girl, I\'m supposed to be dating her. And the weirdest rumor about me and Nargis was that her mother had also moved in to my apartment. That\'s was the funniest thing I had ever heard. I had never met Nargis\' mother and I don\'t even know what she looks like. So yes, dealing with such rumors is tough. Don\'t mind working with Kareena Kapoor: The decision for Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor to work together will never be mine. I have no issues or reservations in taking up a project that feature Kareena. I have always maintained this. Whichever actor my director feels is best for the role he has in mind, should be roped in. Eventually, we all work on the same film. My so-called reservations and personal comfort zones can\'t define my work. That\'s not being professional. I feel that even if an actor is cast for the lead role or for any other part in the film, it is my job to do the film and not create an issue. My last two releases didn\'t do well: I have been in the industry for close to 10 years now. During all these years, I have seen both successful and unsuccessful movies. What\'s important is that one should continue to work and most importantly, work with right people. And what\'s even more important is that one shouldn\'t change. Most of the times it is about who you are! Success is also about timing, at times the decisions you take work for you, and at times they don\'t. My only mistake was that I didn\'t much work for some time (during the rough patch). As an actor you need to go out and show yourself to the audience. There will be people who will and won\'t like your work. In these years, I have learnt that films will come and go, but people remember you if they like you and your work. I have a mind of my own: Nobody should do a project if they aren\'t interested in it. Even though \'Mausam\' didn\'t do well, people appreciated me for attempting the role, and being part of a good film and not just one of those films which have item songs. There was a phase when someone one would say, \'Yeh film kar le\' and I would do. In the last 5 years, I have begun to take my decisions. I have a mind of my own. The attempt now is to do good films and stay away from projects I don\'t believe in. Success comes to you when it has to: The one thing that changed after Mausam, especially when I saw my father take on the stress is that I try to work towards people\'s satisfaction. I want everyone to be happy with what I\'m doing. My attempt now is to satisfy people and not myself. I think when you do this, the journey becomes about achieving what someone else wants and the result becomes secondary. Success, I believe. comes to you when it has to. The adage \'Waqt se pahle aur kismat se jyada na kisi ko na mila hai na milega\', is so true!
