Pawandeep Kaur is Teej Queen of GCG Ludhiana

The Festival of Rainy season-Teej-was celebrated amidst much gaiety and exuberance in the college campus of Govt. College for Girls, here today. Mrs. Daljeet Kaur W/O S. Gobind Singh Distt. Session Judge was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Principal Mrs. Gurminder Kaur, Staff Council, Student Council accorded a warm welcome to the worthy guest. The entire campus wore a festive look with colorful decorations and ethnic festivities. The culture of Punjab came alive through the ambience of the festival. The college girls danced to the tunes of folk songs and swooped in the air in decorated swings.

The Chief Guest was overwhelmed after watching the astounding

response of the students on the occasion. She mentioned that this festival is full of zeal. Teej depicts the emanation of the monsoon season . In this festival the married ladies celebrate for the wellbeing of their spouse and children . She also appreciated the efforts of the staff members and the students for arranging the stalls and cultural programmes.

The worthy Principal Mrs. Gurminder Kaur also propounded her views on the occasion. She said that this festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The Teej of our college is celebrated as one of the best Teej of the city. She also mentioned that the various stalls and all the cultural programmes were well organized . The efforts put in by the staff and the students are laudable.

Various stalls of Bangles, Jewellery, Cosmetics, Suits, gift items were displayed . The Students enjoyed delicacies like Kheerpuras .chat, Boiled Bhuta, Pizza, Manchurian, Curry Chawal, Burgers and Kulfi etc. The college students presented a colourful cultural programme which included Tappe, Suhag, Punjabi Folk song etc. A Punjabi beauty pageant was the special attraction of the festival. Nearly 51 students dressed in traditional Punjabi Jewellery competed with each other for the crown of Teej Queen. Pawandeep Kaur was adjudged as Teej Queen by the Judges . The Chief Guest Crowned and honoured all winners with prizes. The following are winners of various competitions:-
