Two departments of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) including the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering (FMPE), and the Department of Soil and Water Engineering (SWE) have invited applications from the unemployed youth of the Punjab state for the three-month certificate courses.
Giving details, Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, said that a certificate course on "Repair and Maintenance of Tractors and Stationary Engines" will be organized by FMPE department from November 18, 2013 to February 17, 2014. The total number of seats for this course is 15, he told, while asking the interested candidates to apply on a plain paper stating their (his/her) particulars. The minimum qualification for the course is matriculation from recognized board/equivalent, and the course fee will be Rs 15,000/- per candidate, said Dr Gill. The boarding and lodging arrangements will be made at PAU as per University norms and the expenditure for that will be borne by the applicant, he added. The last date for receipt of applications is November 8, 2013 and the interview for selection of candidates will be held on November 14, 2013, informed Dr Gill. The selected candidates will have to deposit fees on the spot during scheduled interview, he told.
Another certificate course on "Installation and Maintenance of Micro-Irrigation System, Net-House and Poly House" will be conducted by the SWE department from February to April 2014, said Dr Gill. The total number of seats for this course is 20, and the minimum qualification for the course is matriculation or above. The fee for this course is Rs 5000/- per candidate, he told. The interested candidates can send their applications on a plain white paper, covering all particulars, upto December 2013, he added.
