NSS volunteers conduct environment awareness campaign

A seminar was conducted on the topic of "Disaster management during floods and droughts" under the supervision of Dr S. S. Hassan, NSS Programme Coordinator in the ongoing NSS camp at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University. Dr Naimi Chand, invited guest speaker of Dept. of Vety. Medicine delivered lecture on "Disaster managements during floods". Dr Hassan also delivered lecture on "Importance of sapling plantation and campaign on plantation drive. He explained the advantages of tree plantation during his lecture. Dr Rajeev Gupta, Professor of Psychiatrist, Tagore Nagar, Ludhiana addressed lecture on "Drug addiction, an emerging problems". Dr Gupta highlighted many tips for abstaining from drug/alcohol addiction. Dr Jayesh Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Agronomy, PAU delivered talk on "The power of dream and positive attitudes". Dr Tanbir Ahmad, Scientist, CIPHET, Ludhiana delivered talk on "Effects of ozone depletion and its hazards". Mr Maitty and Mr Resham Singh from Bollywood and Dr Darshan Singh, welfare officer gave tips on how the documentary film can be made on the environmental issues. All invited guest speakers urged NSS volunteers and also appealed for contribution in making a better surrounding environment through their good deeds, cleanliness and massive saplings plantation works. Dr. Hassan encouraged NSS volunteers to work in close coordination with local communities and contribute positively during emergency and for constructive environment.

NSS volunteers made environment awareness campaign in the university campus and campuses of different college under the university. Plantation drive rally started from Veterinary Hospital, Campus and walked in queue on Ferozepur road for sapling plantation. Then turn towards Govt Model Sr. Sec. School (PAU), Govt. Sr. Sec. School, GGN Public school, Govind Nagar, Ludhiana. More than 140 NSS volunteers of three colleges, College of Fisheries (COF), College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST), GADVASU and affiliated college, Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar participated in the cleanliness and plantation drive campaign rally and volunteers planted saplings in different college campus. NSS volunteers raised voice through holding charts, posters and printed banners on plantation, cleanliness. NSS volunteers planted more than 450 saplings of various tree plant species in different Schools and colleges in Ludhiana.
