Heavy rush for first round of counselling for Undergraduate Programmes at GADVASU

Ludhiana 26- July, 2013

The first round of counselling of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) was completed for three Under Graduate courses i.e. Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry (Five year programme), Bachelor of Fisheries (four year programme) and B.Tech.-Dairy Tech. (four year programme) at Silver Jubilee Block Auditorium of the University. A total 2245 students appeared for Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by this University on 26th June 2013. 60 seats of B.V.Sc & A.H, 8 of B.F.Sc and 24 of B.Tech. Dairy Tech. were filled in the first as informed by Dr. P.D. Juyal, Registrar, GADVASU. The University started B.F.Sc and B.Tech. (Dairy Tech.) courses in 2008 for first time in this region. A rush for admission to Veterinary, Dairy and Fisheries courses was experienced due to the increased popularity of these courses. A total of 2595 applications for admission to various undergraduate programmes were received this year which is almost double of last year's applications received.

A total of 48 seats for Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar were also filled as per the directions of the Hon'ble Punjab and Haryana High Court. The second counselling for Bachelor of Vety .Sc.& Animal Husbandry and Bachelor of Fisheries Sc. is to be held on 19th August, 2013. The 2nd counseling for B.Tech. (Dairy Technology) will be held on 20th August, 2013 while third counselling for all the undergraduate programmes will be held on 9th September, 2013. Status of vacant seats of all the UG programmes will be available on the university website a day before the second counselling.
