Fiat launches improved version of Linea with advanced features

New Delhi: 02 Jul 2013,

Linea was launched in late 2000s by Fiat with the sole objective of improving the company's track record in the C-segment sedan space in Indian market. The car, however, failed to make much impact in the market as the price was pretty high compared to other cars in the same segment.

After Volkswagen launched Polo GT TSI and Ford rolled out Ecosport, turbocharged petrol-engine cars in India seems to have got a fresh lease of life in Indian market. The launch of an all new Linea can be seen as a major attempt to pep up its fortunes by infusing some new features in the car.

Let's see, what one can expect to look out for in the rejuvenated Linea 2013 T-Jet. The body shell and engine got no major facelift. The 1.4 litre turbocharged petrol unit belts out 115 PS@ 5,000 rpm and a decent 207 mm of torque at 2,200 rpm. The company has, however, focused on one of the most key areas and the petrol driven Linea is now available in three levels – Active, Dynamic and Emotion.

In the Active and Dynamic variants of the new Linea, the ground clearance has been raised to 185 mm. Apart from that, Fiat raised the ground clearance capacity of Linea's top-end version Emotion by an extra 5 mm. At the same time, Fiat has been less generous this time with Linea in terms of the car's handling, especially while driving across bumps or potholes. However, since the car is intended to zoom mainly on city roads, it should not be a major cause of concern for the buyers.
