Court staff fails to show up, Salman case order deferred

Jun 11 2013:--

A Sessions Court Monday deferred its order on an appeal by actor Salman Khan against a magistrate\'s ruling invoking charge of culpable homicide not amounting to murder in the 2002 hit-run-case. While Sessions Judge U B Hejib did preside the court, most of the court staff could not make it due to heavy rain. His lawyer Ashok Mundergi sought adjournment, which was not opposed by the prosecution. The order is now expected on June 24.

Mumbai University Monday had to extend the deadline for submission of admission forms as a large number of students could not do so due to heavy rain. \"Students were supposed to submit the admission forms by 3 pm on Monday. However due to heavy rain, trains were cancelled and many students failed to submit their forms. Hence, we had to postpone the announcement of the first merit list to Tuesday. Students can now submit their forms till 1.30 pm on Tuesday, following which the merit list will be declared by 6 pm,\" said a varsity official.

However, some college principals blamed the varsity for the problem. They alleged that the varsity provided little time for students to submit the forms. Technical glitches on the admission portal added to the misery of these students. They should have given two more days to the students,\" said a principal.
