PAU MOURNS DR KARAM SINGH’s DEMISE

LUDHIANA, MAY 6:



The Vice-Chancellor of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), and varsity officers, scientists, employees and students, expressed their deep grief over the sad demise of Dr Karam Singh, PAU alumnus, and former Head of the Department of Economics and Sociology. They extended their heartfelt condolences and prayed for the peace of departed soul. Dr Dhillon stated that Dr. Singh was a renowned economist who made great contribution to Punjab's agri-economy as the Advisor, Punjab State Farmers' Commission.



Dr R.S. Sidhu, Dean, College of Basic Sciences and Humanities; and Dr M.S. Sidhu, Head, Department of Economics and Sociology; said that Dr Singh served as an Advisor, World Bank at Nigeria; and as the President of The Indian Society of Agricultural Economics (ISAE) and The Agricultural Economics Research Association (AERA), the two most prominent national societies of agricultural economics in the country. Adding that he was a role model for the young farm economists, they expressed their condolences to the members of the bereaved family. The Antim Ardas will be held on May 12, 2013 at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Sarabha Nagar, Ludhiana.
