The West Zone special team on Thursday arrested three persons for organising and accepting bets from punters on IPL maches. They seized a line box with 20 mobile phones, laptop, two TV sets, `1.20 lakh in cash, account books and a bike from them.
According to police, the special team received credible information that some persons were accepting bets on a match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Pune Warriors. The special team and the Jubilee Hills police jointly caught Venkata Rama Raju alias Ramesh and Kare Srinivas Rao and their collection agent Prudhvi Raju (38) in a raid.
During investigation, it came to light that Srinivas was accepting bets via mobile phones and laptops. Prudhvi Raju led the police to a room at Phase III, KPHB Colony where Venkata Rama Raju and Srinivas were accepting the bets.
