Dharmendra misses a good script for him in the present era

1.May 2013,

One of the biggest superstars of the Hindi film industry Dharmendra has been quite a popular name among his fans and followers and he has won millions of hearts with his extraordinary acting skills. The actor is still being loved and respected among his followers, though he is not a popular face on the big screen any more. Unlike Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, he is no more offered substantial roles in the modern films which have some well-documented scripts.

For the last four years Dharmendra has not signed a single film after he appeared in some noteworthy roles in Life in a… Metro, Apne and Johnny Gaddar in 2007. He holds a complaint against present day filmmakers that they don't come up with good scripts which would have suitable roles for him. According to the veteran actor, "I'll do a film only if it's a great script. But now, I sit at home and find stories on my own. What can I do if no one approaches me with good films?" He added further, "If I wanted to I could have ruled Bollywood in the '70s and '80s. I had the power to make all the stars sit at home and do all their films. But I didn't do that." He stated more, "I am not here to be in the audience's mind, but I will always be in my fans' hearts. That's the most significant and valued thing that an actor can achieve."

Dharmendra, who was last seen in Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011) and Tell Me O Kkhuda (2011), will be seen next in the sequel of Yamla Pagla Deewana, to be released this year. He also claims that his star power has never been utilised to grab offers by hindering other actors' growth in the industry.
