Visa on arrival at Attari Border for Pak senior citizens begins

AMRITSAR:April, 07 2013



The Indian authorities today started the facility of Visa on Arrival (VoA) for the senior citizens of Pakistan at Attari Border near here.



However no Pak citizen today sought the facility on the first day but the service is likely to initiate new beginning in the relationship between the two countries. Any Pak national in the age group of 65 years or more would be allowed to take the Visa at Attari Check-Post.



The visa under this facility would be a single entry Visa and will allow a Pak national to stay in India for a maximum period of 45 days.



The services of granting the Visa on arrival began today. The service was to start on January 15, 2013 but was delayed citing technical problem but the killing of the two Indian Army Jawans on the LoC by the Pakistani Army on 8 January 2013 was being cited as main reason behind the postponement of the service.



The two countries through the SAARC agreement had decided to start the service but the India has taken the initiative to start the counter for the facility. The two countries are also likely to start group

tourist visa facility in the times to come.
