Vinod Khanna makes his presence felt at BJP formation day in Gurdaspur

Popular cine star and former BJP MP from Gurdaspur Vinod Khanna joined function to celebrate BJP formation day here on Saturday sending clear signals that he was still interested in contesting the seat.



Khanna who has been charged by his rivals in the party that he was more interested in his film career and busy in Mumbai and was hardly visible in Gurdaspur but made his presence felt only during the lok Sabha elections, has given clear cut indications that he would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha seat if his party high command chose to do so.



Khanna arrived here to attend the function here after he attended party meeting which was chaired by New Punjab BJP president Kamal Sharma\'s visit to Pathankot recently.



Exhorting the party rank and file to pledge unity to strengthen party base in the wake of upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha poll, Khanna who was elected MP from Gurdaspur thrice in row before he was defeated by Partap Bajwa,



Congress candidate, said while the Congress will be contesting a losing battle in the wake of scams coming in public gaze every day and Dr Manmohan Singh led UPA government\'s inability to control inflation, the BJP led NDA stood every chance to come to power at the Centre.



At similar functions held in Pathankot and Sujanpur , former Punjab BJP president and MLA Ashwani sharma and Punjb Deputy speaker Dinesh Singh Babbu, respectively, urged the party workers to re-dedidicate themselves to the party and close their ranks and work unitedly for electoral gains in upcoing local and Lok Sabha elections.



Khanna has been actively particpating in the party meetings here fore the last one year and has never announced that he will not contest next Lok Sabha poll and is likely to spend more time in the constuency , said a senior BJP leader and a stuanch Khanna follower.
