Karachi: Funeral prayers of 7 Mominabad blast victims offered

A bomb went off near an Awami National Party (ANP) office when party candidate Bashir Jan was about to address a public gathering in Mominabad area of Orangi Town. At least nine people including a child were killed and over 50 others injured in the blast.

The funeral prayers of seven victims including Mufti Nizamuddin Shamzai's elder brother Dr Azizuddin Shamzai were offered at Shahi Masjid in Mominabad today morning.

The funeral was attended by ANP and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam leaders and workers while a large number of local residents was also observed.

It is pertinent to mention that the ANP today is observing a day of mourning against the deadly attack near its office.

ANP Sindh chapter leader Shahid Syed has appealed to people of Karachi to mark the day of mourning peacefully keeping their businesses open and transport on the roads.

Condemning what he said a cowardly assault, he said that such attacks could not restrain ANP from its struggle. He also advised party workers to avoid provocations and donate blood to the injured.
