Bhopal hospital mishap: 2 dead, 15 injured; rescue operations complete

Bhopal: Rescue and search operations have been completed at the BHEL-run Kasturba Hospital in Bhopal, where the ceiling of the women\'s ward collapsed on Friday evening. Fifteen people have been rescued with minor injuries and two people have died in the mishap.

\"The bodies of two persons identified as Jameel and Arun were found when the rescue team started removing debris of the collapsed structure,\" Collector Nikunj Shrivastava said on Friday evening. The structure, which was nearly 50-years-old, collapsed around 5 pm when there was some tiling work going on at the ground floor, he said.

Executive Director of BHEL, SR Prasad said the injured were being treated in another wing of the hospital. Bhopal Mayor Krishna Gaur assured that an investigation would be conducted in the mishap. \"Our primary concern is evacuation of patients and rescue of those trapped under the debris,\" she added.



Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced Rs 2 lakh compensation each for the family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.
