Tension in Bangalore court as police chase scribes

BANGALORE, March 8, 2013

Tension prevailed for some time on Friday as police chased media person who had turned up to cover the proceedings at special court in Parappana Agrahara, where the jailed mining baron G. Janardhan Reddy was being produced by the CBI officials.

Mr. Reddy, who was brought under tight security from Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad, was made to wait at the Parappana Agrahara in the police van as CBI officials were looking for the required documents to produce him before the court.

While Mr. Reddy and his aide Mahfooz Ali Khan were kept in the police vehicle, a few media persons went to take his bytes when the Parappana Agrahara police manhandled and chased them. The scribes allegedly attacked and their cameras have been confiscated by the police.

Mr. Reddy, meanwhile, blamed the Congress party for booking him under a false case. The Centre is misleading the people by misusing the CBI, he said adding that the Congress wanted to scuttle every chance of former Minister and BSR Congress leader Sriramulu emerging as a new leader, he said.
