LUDHIANA, MARCH 4:
The second in the series of the seven Kisan Melas of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will be held tomorrow i.e. March 5 at Khalsa College, Amritsar. Dr J.S. Kular, Member, Board of Management, and former Director of Extension Education, PAU, will be the chief guest whereas Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, will preside over the mela. The special emphasis of mela will be on promoting the kitchen garden model through its theme "Ghar di sabzi-dal ugao: sihat banao, paise bachao (Grow vegetables and pulses in your household kitchen garden: Save money and Stay healthy)."
Giving details, Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, said that the mela will equip the farmers and the farm women with the in-depth knowledge of scientific farming and the need-based farm technologies for upcoming Kharif season. Besides, the technical session will also be held wherein the farmers can interact and discuss various farm related issues with the subject-matter specialists and seek technical guidance for the same. Dr Gill told that an exhibition, showcasing latest farm practices and new agri-innovative techniques, will also be organized on this occasion.
