PAU BAGS GOLD, SILVER AND BRONZE MEDALS AT ALL INDIA INTER-VARSITY YOUTH FEST

LUDHIANA, MARCH 11:



The teams of mime (group) and patriotic song (group) of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) won gold medal during the 13th All India Inter-Agricultural University Youth Festival. The fest was organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishav Vidhayala, Jabalpur (Madhya Paradesh), from February 24 to 28, 2013. The group song (Indian) team won silver medal while the students who participated in debate and cartooning won bronze medals. The PAU won overall trophy in music event also.

The PAU Vice Chancellor, Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon and Director Students' Welfare, Dr Balwinder Singh congratulated the students for bringing laurels to the University and exhorted them to maintain this rich tradition.



Giving details, Mr Satvir Singh, Welfare Officer of PAU, said that 26 Universities (Central and State Agricultural Universities) from across India participated in this festival. The PAU contingent, consisting of 27 members, participated in various events such as music, theatre, literary and fine arts, he told. Dr Satish Kumar, DDMC President, and Ms. Manpreet Kaur, Assistant Professor, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, accompanied the PAU contingent.



The students who clinched gold and silver medals in patriotic and Indian song (group) include Ramneek Singh, Jasraman Singh, Sandeep, Argha Vagchi, Baljeet Kaur and Manveen Kaur. The students who bagged gold medal in mime (group) include Samridh Dutt, Sahil Sharma, Jasmandeep Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh and Ravinder Singh. Naveen Bhandari and Neha Rani won bronze medals in debate and cartooning, respectively.
