FORMER PAU PROFESSOR AUTHORS TEXTBOOK “Genetic Material”

LUDHIANA, MARCH 7:



A former Professor of Genetics of the Punjab Agricultural University, and presently a Visiting Professor in the School of Agricultural Biotechnology (SAB), PAU; Dr Gurbachan S. Miglani has authored a textbook, "Genetic Material" for undergraduate and post-graduate students. The book will be useful to the students studying molecular genetics in any discipline of life sciences in conventional, agricultural and medical universities/colleges/schools all over the world, he said. "Genetic Material" deals with the nature, structure, molecular forms, location, biosynthesis, organization, analysis, sequencing, synthesis, packaging, recombination, damage, repair, protection and evolution of genetic material in viruses, prokaryotes, and eukaryotes. This book has been published by Narosa Publishing House Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, he told, adding that the international edition of this book is being simultaneously brought out by Alpha Science International, UK.



In this book, special emphasis has been given on recent progresses, applications/implications of various discoveries, Nobel Prize winning work and glossary of important terms, informed Dr Miglani. This book will also be useful for national and international level competitive examinations, entrance tests, and interviews, he added.

Dhaliwal, Dean, College of Agriculture; Dr Kuldeep Singh, Director, SAB and Dr Darshan Singh Brar, Adjunct Professor, SAB, PAU, congratulated Dr Miglani for writing this much needed book.



During his 35 years of service, Dr Miglani authored several textbooks, book chapters and laboratory manuals in genetics in addition to research papers, review papers and popular science articles. He is a recipient of Meritorious Teacher Award of PAU and Sneh Prabha Shukla Memorial Award of Honour from Punjab Sahitya Kala Manch (Regd.), Ludhiana.
