Clarke still confident of levelling series

Australia captain Michael Clarke feels his team is capable of levelling the series despite having lost the first two Tests against India.



"India is playing really good cricket. We were outplayed in the first two matches and there is a lot of work to do. But it is in our nature not to give up. We have learnt a few things from the first two Tests and will execute those in third and fourth," said Clarke said at a promotional event here on Friday.



"There is every chance that we can make it 2-2. If there was a fifth Test, we would have won 3-2," Clarke said in a lighter vein.



The Aussie skipper said it was always difficult to adapt to different conditions and pitches in India, but did not agree that his team had come underprepared. "There are no excuses. We need to improve."



Clarke, who took time off to visit the Taj Mahal with his wife Kyly on Thursday, hoped his players would utilise the nine-day break to prepare themselves well for the Mohali match starting on March 14. "There is plenty of time before the third Test and we have to work hard."



On the criticism his team was facing back home, Clarke said it was understandable since the side had not met the expectations.



Asked about Virender Sehwag's exclusion from the Indian squad, Clarke said, "I am focused on Australia's preparation… But Virender is a fantastic player in all the three formats of the game. I am sure he will be back in the team," he said.
