Vet Varsity scientists participates at national symposium on canine at Goa

Dr P S Mavi and Dr P N Dwivedi from Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana participated in National Congress on canine practice and symposium on "New Horizon in Companion Animal Health & Management". Both the scientists presented the lead papers. Dr P S Mavi gave the tips on Nutrition and Reproduction in canine. Dr Mavi highlighted the effects of mal-nutrition which includes both nutrients deficiencies and nutrients excesses on fertility and life span of the dogs. Nutrients supplements during pregnancy may be avoided which lead to congenital defects, hinder calcium immobilization and even bone developments in new born pups. The increased requirements during pregnancy are simply met by increase intake of food the dog consumes. Dr Dwivedi lecture was on an update on molecular diagnosis of canine viral diseases like canine parvo virus, distemper, rabies etc. more than 180 delegates from all India attended the symposium who appreciated the lecture. Dr mavi and Dr Dwivedi also chaired the scientific sessions in canine reproduction & breeding and canine microbiology, virology & immuniology.
