MLAs’ resignation: Bhardwaj rules out intervention

BANGALORE, February 25, 2013

In the wake of a series of resignations from the Assembly by the BJP members, Governor H.R. Bhardwaj refused to interfere in the issues of the government demonstrating a majority in the Assembly.

More than 15 MLAs have already resigned from the Assembly so far.

Stating that "these are matters of Constitution," He told reporters on the sidelines of an event in Bangalore on Monday that it did not matter if the MLAs had resigned. "The government has already demonstrated its strength during the Budget session. For me, there is no case of intervention," he said.

Mr. Bhardwaj also said that with the elections to the urban local bodies so close, he was "not going to put my hand into all this now."
