Ludhiana, January 4:
Around 10 participants from across northern states are taking part in soybean milk and tofu training programme inaugurated here today at the Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET).
Notably, soybean milk and its products are becoming popular among the health conscious people due to almost zero cholesterol level. Soya is naturally high in essential fatty acids, proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals. This is especially useful for lactose intolerant people, who could not consume animal milk said Dr. U.S. Shivhare, Director , CIPHET while addressing the participants.
"With increasing health awareness among the people about health benefits of soyamilk, now large numbers of entrepreneurs are approaching us to get training in soya products. As animal milk cannot meet all the demands of growing population, there is ample scope for new entrants in soya milk production," revealed Head Transfer of Technology Dr Deepak Raj Rai, addressing the participants coming from different states.
Emphasizing that entrepreneurs should not compromise on quality, Dr Rai said that besides milk and tofu number of others products from soybean are now gaining popularity in India. CIPHET Scientist Dr Indu Karki informed the participants about benefits of soya products and schedule of two day training programme. Technical Official Dr O.P Moondan assured all support to the participants even after completition of the training programme. \"There is lot of demand of milk and I think soybean milk could be good and cost effective alternative,\" said, Sukhpal Singh who came to CIPHET for the training programme.
