Poultry Inspectors Training concludes at GADVASU.

The Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana organized one week poultry training from 21.1.2013 to 25.1.2013 for the poultry inspectors of Punjab. Thirteen poultry inspectors from Department of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Punjab participated in the training programme. The complete capsule training programme on poultry was provided to the trainees on all aspects starting from selection of land, procurement of feeding/birds , management of poultry birds, schedule of vaccination, handling of eggs, marketing of poultry birds including preparation of project report and common emerging diseases etc. Peculiar feature of this training is that it was an important training for trainers and these poultry inspectors in turn provide the training and other basic knowhow to poultry farmers at village level. All participants appreciated Guru Angad Dev Vety & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana, Director of Extension Education, as well as Head of department and course coordinator for organizing this training programme. Dr. RS Sahota, Director of Extension Education was the chief guest at the concluding function held today. He said that poultry farming is an excellent field for employment as well as to meet the protein needs of the people. He also said that like other functional farmers' associations, poultry farmers can form an association with the help of University, which can be useful for the growth of poultry farming in the state. Dr. HK Verma, Head, Vety Extension informed to trainees that department is organizing various publications in local language as well providing training on Dairy, Pig, Goat, value addition of the livestock produce. Compendium of lectures and other varsity publications were provided to the trainees. DR SK Kansal and Dr Parminder Singh, Associate Professors coordinated the training course.
