Pig Farmers Meet at GADVASU

A monthly meeting of Progressive Pig Farmers Association (PPFA) was held at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana on 24th Jan 2013 in the department of Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Extension. Pig farmers from different parts of Punjab State participated in the training cum monthly seminar. On this occasion Dr. H.K. Verma, Head, Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education said that diversification is the need of hour and pig farming can play an important role to diversity Indian Agriculture. Pig farming is being popular in the state as it will promote diversification on one hand and will provide the employment to unemployed youth. Dr. M P Gupta, Professor, Department of Veterinary and animal Husbandry Extension Education, delivered a lecture to the pig farmers on swine flu whereas Dr. Chandrahas, Assistant Professor, Department of Livestock Production and Management, awared the farmers about basic management techniques for efficient pig farming. The President of Progressive Pig Farmers Association has requested the pig farmers of Punjab to join for further strengthening PPFA, as it will essential to achieve new heights of the profession. He also thanked the University experts for technical guidance as well as co-operation.
