NATIONAL RECOGNITION FOR GADVASU SCIENTIST

In recognition of his contributions to different techniques for increased Livestock Production Dr. A.L. Saini, Professor-cum-Head, Department of Livestock Production Management, GADVASU, Ludhiana has been bestowed with a prestigious award i.e. National Fellow by the Indian Society of Animal Production Management (ISAPM) at the XXth Annual Convention and National Symposium on "New paradigms in Livestock Production : From traditional to commercial farming and beyond" from 28-30th January, 2013 at NDRI Karnal. Dr. Saini started his career as ICAR Scientist after completing his Ph.D in Livestock Production Management. In his illustrious career he did his research work on Animal housing, Animal behaviour, Livestock judging etc. His major contribution in the research is convertible Animal housing module which was appreciated at national and international level. He has 48 original research papers, 2 books, 8 Manual of practical and 155 other articles to his credit. Earlier in his service period of more than 30 years, he was awarded fellowships and travel grants to attend advanced trainings on Livestock Production in Germany and Israel. Recently he attended international conferences on goats in Spain. He guided both Doctoral and Master's Students. He coordinated a very popular radio programme "School on Dairy Farming". He delivered 22 Radio talks, 14 TV talks and a large numbers of invited lectures on various topics. He is Principal Investigator of one of the major World Bank Funded Scheme under National Agricultural Innovation project. He acted as resource person to produce 2 Videos for UGC telecast and one for NAIP Project.
