PAU INKS PACT WITH CIMMYT, MEXICO

LUDHIANA, NOVEMBER 12:



The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT), Mexico, recently, to facilitate postgraduate research. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU and R E. Duveiller, Director Research, South Asia (CIMMYT), signed the MoU on behalf of the respective institutes.



Dr Dhillon said that under the signed pact, CIMMYT will award scholarships to enable M.Sc and Ph.D students of the PAU to carry out research activities in conservation agriculture. The scholarship will be initially for a period of one year but extendable to a maximum duration of 24 months. Dr Dhillon informed that the students will work at designated CIMMYT adaptive research sites in collaboration with a CIMMYT scientist as assigned by the country Liaison Officer, CIMMYT, India. He said that the partnership between the two institutes would nurture the research skills and broaden the horizons of the students.
