Dr Harbinder Singh Rai, Associate Professor, Department of Veterinary Parasitology of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University passed away on 15 October 2012.The condolence meeting of the faculty of Vet. Varsity was held to express grief on the untimely demise of Dr. H.S. Rai. Born on 1.1.1965 Dr. Rai was only 47 years old. He passed his B.V.Sc from College of Veterinary Science (PAU) in 1988. After completion of M.V.Sc., he joined as Assistant Professor on February 22, 1992. He completed his doctorate in 2001 and was promoted to the post of Associate Professor on October 20, 2001. He was a good sports person, and hockey was his game of choice. He represented Punjab Agricultural University as the table tennis player. Dr Rai belonged to village Kelon, near Malerkotla. As faculty, he was associated with various blood donation camps. He had good command over his subject especially the field of helminthic parasites. He had significantly contributed in the preparation of undergraduate manuals of helminthology and other disciplines of Parasitology. During his professional career, he guided two post graduate students. He is survived by his wife, a school lecturer of Chemistry and the only son who is doing degree course in Civil Engineering at Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. The bhog ceremony of Dr H. S. Rai will be held at his village Kelon on 25.10.2012 at 12.30 p.m.
