The selection event camp of NSS volunteers for participation in Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp 2012 at college and university level was organized in university college campus as per guidelines followed by selection committee. Volunteers from three colleges viz. College of Fisheries (COF), College of Dairy Science and Technology (CODST), GADVASU and Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (KCVAS), Amritsar participated in the event. As per the recommendation, fourteen NSS volunteers namely Mehtab Singh Sohi, Ashishpal Singh, Navjot Singh, Prabhat Ranjan, Sagalpreet Singh and Karan Kumar of CODST, Balwinder Singh, Amardeep Kaur, Sarabjeet Kaur, Harmanpreet Kaur, Mandeep Kaur, Aparna Kumari and Jagdeep Kaur of COF, GADVASU, Ludhiana and Shikha, KCVAS (affiliated college), Amritsar including four standby volunteers selected for participation in Pre-Republic Day Parade Camp-2012 which is going to be held at Murthal (Panipat) w.e.f. 01/11/2012 to 10/11/2012. Further necessary instructions to the selected NSS volunteers will be provided to participate in the national event in a befitting manner as per guidelines.
The event incharge Dr Syed Shabih Hassan told that NSS volunteers/students were encouraged to participate in Pre-RD Camp-2012 events at Murthal, Panipat and should prepare themselves for participation in prestigious R.D. Parade camp at Delhi. Volunteers/students also informed to become more competitive in all spheres of life. He informed that NSS wing of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University conducted trial for the selection of NSS volunteers on merit basis in the presence of Mr A. K. Sidhu, Youth Officer, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, RRC (NSS), Chandigarh, Mr Nitin Deo Singh, NCC Officer (COVS), Dr V. P. Singh, NSS (CODST), Mrs Ramneek Kaur, NSS (PAU Sr. Sec. School).
