The "Golden Jubilee Inter-College Youth Festival" of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), for the session 2012-13, kicked off here today. The students of the four constituent colleges of the PAU including College of Agriculture (COA), College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAE&T), College of Basic Sciences and Humanities (COBS&H) and College of Home Science (COHS), are participating in the fest. Various events such as collage making, creative writing and cartooning were organized today in which the students demonstrated their talent and creativity.

The Chief Guest, Dr P.K. Khanna, Technical Advisor to the PAU Vice-Chancellor and officiating Registrar, said that the spirit of participation is more important than wining prizes. Applauding the performance of the students in fine arts and literary events, he added that the participation in co-curricular activities helps in enhancing the personality. Dr Khanna gave away the prizes to the winners and exhorted the youth to prosper and progress in various fields of life in future also.

Dr D.S. Cheema, Director Students' Welfare, said that cultural events provide an opportunity to the students to express their thoughts and exhibit their innovative abilities on a series of events. Although PAU is an agricultural university, yet the students have the passion and enthusiasm to participate and win laurels in different items, stated he, while wishing good luck to the students. He informed that the main inauguration of the fest will be held on October 22.

The panel of judges included the experts from the renowned institutions of the Punjab state.

Creative Writing – First – Karaminderbir Kaur (COA), Second – Ajit Kaur (COBS&H) and Third – Aakanksha Melkani (COBS&H).
