TRAINING IN EFFICIENT USE OF FARM MACHINERY AT PAU

LUDHIANA, SEPTEMBER 13:



The Directorate of Extension Education of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will organize a training programme on "Efficient use of farm inputs, machinery and agro-service centers" from September 17 to 19 at PAU Farmers' Service Centre. The programme has been designed for the Secretaries of Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS).



Giving details, the Director of Extension Education, Dr M.S. Gill said that the PAU subject-matter specialists will highlight the emerging role of cooperative societies in custom hiring of farm machinery in Punjab. Besides, they will dwell upon various types of mechanical paddy transplanters, use of laser land levelers and its benefits, multi- crop planter vis-à-vis crop geometry, techniques to enhance fertilizer use efficiency, weed management and weedicide spraying techniques, he added. The trainees will also be apprised of insect-pest management in crops, spraying equipments, high-tech protected cultivation of vegetables in addition to disease management in field and fruit crops. Dr Gill said that the trainees will visit the fields of Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Rassolpur, Jagroan for practical experience. An interactive session will be held in which the queries of the participants will be responded by the agri-experts and feedback will also be received, he told, while informing that the registration for the course will take place on September 17 at slated venue at 9.00 a.m.
