World Health Organization Official applauses research of GADVASU faculty member

Ludhiana. 15- July, 2012.

Dr. Charan Kamal Singh, Professor of Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana was invited to Kolkata to deliver a scientific paper and to chair technical session during the 14th National Conference of Association for Prevention and Control of Rabies in India (APCRI) on the theme "Towards a Sustainable Rabies Control Programme in India – A One Health Initiative".

The presentation by Dr Singh on the topic "Latest advances in diagnosis of rabies in living animals" was so appreciated at the conference that Dr F X Meslin of World Health Organization requested Dr Singh to send his views to the head quarters of World health Organization that shall help to devise the international policy of ante mortem diagnosis of rabies.

It is a matter of pride for GADVASU that based on the research accomplishments of Dr Singh's Rabies laboratory, APCRI announced recognition of the rabies research-cum-diagnostic laboratory at GADVASU, Ludhiana for all future collaborative projects that shall be taken up at the national level.

The general body meeting of APCRI chose Dr Singh as Convenor to constitute national committee for strengthening of rabies diagnostics and research. Dr Singh shall identify the members and laboratories to be included in the national committee within next two months.
