Sub: Request to Cover Seminar on Food Security







Dear Madam Sir,



Nearly 40% of our county's population is malnourished and this thus unable to participate in the production process fully. Grains are getting rotten but despite Supreme Court's observations the government of India is not ready to distribute it to the needy.







They are planning to bring food security bill which lacks provisions for uninterrupted supply of food to the citizens of India. Instead based on the planning commission's delineation of below poverty line (BPL) to be those earning Rs.26.00 per day in rural and Rs.32.00 in urban areas. This will push 54% population in rural and 72% in urban areas out of the benefits to be provided to the poor.







The Communist Party of India (CPI) along with other left parties will hold dharna at Jantar Mantar New Delhi from 30th July to 3rd August to impress upon the government for a universal public distribution system so as to ensure food to all.







In this connection a seminar is being organized in Ludhiana as per the following programme:
