PUNJAB AGRICULTURAL UNIVERSITY PAU CONDOLES DR GURAYA’S DEMISE

LUDHIANA, JULY 14:--

The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) Vice Chancellor, Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon has expressed condolences on the demise of the renowned Zoologist, Dr S.S.Guraya, who retired as Dean of College of Basic Sciences and Humanities of PAU. Dr Guraya, who passed away on July 8 in the US, was a world renowned Reproductive Biologist, said Dr. Dhillon adding that with his passing away PAU was at a loss. Dr Guraya was a Fellow of Indian National Science Academy, National Academy and National Academy of Agricultural Science and was recipient of prestigious awards including Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award, Basant Devi Award, etc. in recognition of his scientific contributions. He authored many reference books published by reputed international publishers and trained many students in the field of Reproductive Biology, who are serving PAU and in other parts of the world. Dr Guraya remained connected with PAU as Professor Emeritus even after his retirement in 1990. Remembering Dr Guraya for his contributions, the PAU Registrar, Deans, Directors and other Officers described him an extremely dedicated scientist who inspired others.
