Ludhiana farmer gets prestigious Jagjivan Ram Innovative Farm Award

Ludhiana, July 17:



Rajvinder Pal Singh Rana, an innovative farmer from Mandiani village of Ludhiana district, has got prestigious Jagjivan Ram Innovative Farm Award during 84th Foundation Day of Indian Council Agriculture Research function held at National Agriculture Science Complex, New Delhi. He received the award from Union Minister of Agriculture Sharad Pawar and cash prize of Rs 50 thousand.



He has been awarded for developing fish tagging machine, which cut down cost of per tag to just 10 paise against 4 to 5 dollars per tag of solution available in international market.The technology helps in tracking of fishes. Besides, he has developed a technology to carry out fish alive to market by using air blower which operative with 12 V DC motor. He has also used fish skin for various purposes. The award has been named after former Deputy Prime Minister late Jagjivan Ram (1908-1986) and also consist Rs 50 thousand of amount in addition to award money as traveling expenses for the innovative farmer to visit different parts of the country and motivate other farmers.
