ICAR DDG VISITS KVK LUDHIANA, INTERACTS WITH FARMERS AND FARM WOMEN

LUDHIANA, JULY 14:-----



The Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi, Dr K. Kokate visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Ludhiana, today. He was accompanied by Dr V.P. Chahal, Principal Scientist, ICAR, New Delhi, Dr A.M. Narula, Zonal Project Director, ICAR, Zone-I and Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, PAU. During their visit, the team of experts discussed about agrarian issues and evinced interest in multi-facial activities being carried out by KVK for upliftment of the farming community of the area.



Interacting with the farmers and farm women, Dr Kokate emphasised on the adoption of resource conservation technologies for sustainable agriculture. For enhancing profitability, farmers must lay thrust on value-addition of their produce. Dr Kokate appreciated the team of KVK scientists for carrying out the activities efficiently.



Referring to the chemical residue testing in honey for export, Dr Narula said that it will be useful for the bee-keepers.



Addressing the participants, Dr Gill suggested the bee-keepers and the entrepreneurs to go in for cooperative marketing of honey for maximizing profits and certification of their value added products for improving the market acceptability.



Earlier, Dr Jugraj Singh, Deputy Director (Training), KVK, Ludhiana, presented an overview of the activities.



An exhibition was put up by the entrepreneurs who started their ventures after receiving training and guidance from KVK, Ludhiana. Present on the occasion were Er Aseem Verma, Dr Devinder Tiwari, Prof. Rubaljot Kaur, Dr Harsimrat Kaur and Dr Navjot Kaur.
