Stakeholders in post harvest sector meet to chalk out future strategies

Ludhiana, June 20:

With an aim of providing platform to all stakeholders for effective research in the post harvest sector, Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) organized a Quinquennial Review Team (QRT) meeting here at the institute campus. The meet was marked with presentations of farm innovators and processing machinery manufactures across the region.



"During the meeting farm innovators suggested us for providing them assistance in patent filing, monitoring of quality standards, organic products certification, establishing of farm innovators club and sustained interaction with all stakeholders", informed Vice-Chancellor Junagandh Agricultural University, Gujarat, Dr N.C Patel, who was also chairman of the QRT, adding that members of the QRT appreciated the technologies developed by farm innovators with assistance of CIPHET.



The major technologies exhibited by farm innovators in their presentations included multipurpose food processing machine, carrot washing machine, fish tagging machine and soyabean processing etc. CIPHET Director Dr U.S Shivhare said that they would organize more such interactions involving all stakeholders for the development of effective technologies. "CIPHET is also committed for the development of entrepreneurship in the post harvest sector helping to create more self employment opportunities," he added.



Mr Baldev Singh, President of All India Farm Machinery Manufactures, highlighted various problems faced by the industry. Mr Pavitar Singh Pangali, President of the PAU Kisan Club, suggested various measures for entrepreneurship development and making agriculture sustainable.



Prominent present on the occasion included Principal A.D Patel Institute of Technology Dr R.K Jain, Professor and Head Department of Dairy Microbiology of Anand Agricultural University Dr J.B Prajapati, Professor and Head Department of Agricultural Process Engineering of Dr B.J Konkan Krishi Vidayapeet Dapoli Dr N.J Thakur, Professor Department of Business Management, PAU, Dr Sandeep Kapur and Member Secretary QRT Dr H.S Oberio.
