PAU TO CELEBRATE WATER RESOURCES DAY ON MAY 23

LUDHIANA, MAY 22:-----



The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) will celebrate "Water Resources Day" tomorrow i.e. on May 23 at 9.15 a.m. at Dr Borlaug Wheat Auditorium of the university. Based on the theme "Water Resources Management for Sustainable Agriculture," the programme will be jointly organized by the Department of Soil and Water Engineering (SWE) and Precision Farming Development Centre of the PAU. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, will be the chief guest of this occasion. Dr R.S. Kanwar, Vice-Chancellor, Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar will deliver the keynote address.



During the programme, Dr S.S. Gosal, Director of Research, will highlight the on-farm water management and water conservation technologies evolved by the PAU. Dr M.S. Gill, Director of Extension Education, will shed light on extension activities of the PAU, for the transfer of technology to the farmers for judicious use of water resources. Dr PPS Lubana, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, will read out the welcome address.



Giving details, Dr A.K. Jain, Head of SWE, informed that a technical session will take place in which speakers namely Dr S.K. Sharma, Principal Scientist and Head, Division of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Karnal, Mr. A.K. Sondhi, Chief Conservator of Soils, Punjab and Dr A.K. Tiwari, Head, Central Soil and Water Conservation Research and Training Institute (CSWCRTI), will share their views.
