Ranbir beats Salman, Shah Rukh again

(21/03/12)

When people first saw him on the silver screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much anticipated 'Saawariya' in 2007, they knew that the country had a superstar in the making. Though the movie was neither a Box-Office hit nor acclaimed critically, but a very strong positive to come out of the dud was the new male baton-holder for the Kapoor clan. Ranbir is a treat to watch, literally and metaphorically. And this year, he has proved his talent and announced his arrival by sweeping every popular award available in the country with his portrayal of a deeply hurt musician in Imtiaz Ali's 'Rockstar'. And he won the award at the expense of the biggest superstars of the country, which include Salman, Shah Rukh and Ajay Devgn.

There was a similar air at the recently concluded FICCI Frames Excellence Awards held in Mumbai. The Kapoor scion won the most important award of the night, i.e., the best actor. In fact, 'Rockstar' was the overall winner with 4 significant awards in its kitty. But the award for the best film unsurprisingly went to Zoya Akhtar's 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'.

With the rate that Mr Kapoor is gaining foothold in the industry, it sure is a matter for concern for the more established stars (read Khans). Though with 'Barfee' releasing this year, Ranbir only looks to strengthen his roots. All the luck to the others.
