Soya processing training begins at CIPHET





Ludhiana, February 27:



Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology (CIPHET) has today initiated two-day training programme on Soyabean processing here at its campus. Around six participants from across country are taking part in the programme.



"Participants would be given hands-on-training in milk and tofu processing from soyabean," said Head Transfer of Technology Division, CIPHET, Dr Deepak Raj Rai, adding that soyabean processing could become a high potential business due to increased demand in the market. "The milk and tofu from soyabean contains high proteins and vitamins and health conscious people especially prefer this over cow/buffalo milk," he added.



Assuring participants all the assistance, Dr Rai said that good quality soyamilk could be prepared with help of standardized process by the institute. Transfer of Technology Division Scientist Dr Indu Karki and Technical Official Dr O.P Moondam, revealed the participants about the details of the training given to them. The training programme will include practical on soyabean milk and tofu. Paramjit Kaur, one of the participant from Jalandhar, said that they want to start soyabean milk production alongwith their dairy business.
