Tiruchi pays last respects to air crash victims

TIRUCHI, September 28, 2011(Tehelkanews)

Hundreds of people from different walks of lives paid their last respects to the eight members of the Tiruchi Centre of the Builders Association of India who were killed in Sunday's air crash in Kathmandu, here on Wednesday.



The embalmed bodies of the eight victims, M.V. Maruthachalam, M. Manimaran, T. Dhanasekaran, V.M. Kanakasabesan, A.K. Krishnan, Kattur Mahalingam, Meenakshisundaram and Thyagarajan, were brought here from Chennai by road early this morning. The bodies were transported by air from Kathmandu via New Delhi and Chennai.



The bodies, which arrived here at around 7 a.m., were kept at the National College Higher Secondary School grounds for about one-and-a-half hours for the public to pay homage.



Scores of builders, engineers, contractors and representatives from allied industries and members of the public thronged the grounds to pay homage.



P. Kumar, MP, who had accompanied the bodies from Nepal, Animal Husbandry Minister N.R. Sivapathi, former Ministers A.V. Velu and N. Selvaraj were among those who paid their last respects.



Later, they were handed over to the respective families and for performing the last rites.
