Now AIIMS to decide Amar Singh\'s destiny!

New Delhi,29 Sep 2011.

With Delhi court rejecting the bail of former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh on Wednesday, now Singh\'s fate totally lies in the hands of AIIMS doctor who will examine whether he should be sent back to Tihar jail for his alleged involvement in the 2008 cash-for-vote scam.

Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal rejected both his pleas for regular and interim bail. The judge also said that he would stay in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences as long as the doctors thinks this to be necessary.

\"The accused is stable but requires monitoring. I leave it to the good judgement of these specialists and super specialists at AIIMS to decide the period of time for which the accused is to be kept under observation,\" said the judge, while pronouncing the order.

It is worthwhile mentioning that Singh was arrested on September 6 in the cash-for-votes scam and was taken to Tihar Jail. He complained that he was unwell, and was moved to AIIMS before being granted interim bail.

Singh stated that a kidney transplant last year causes him serious medical problems. Moreover, the doctors attending him have been asking that he be allowed to travel abroad for treatment.

Singh has been charged for bribing three BJP MPs to vote for the government in a trust vote in July 2008. He has been put under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
