Pig Farmers Meet at GADVASU

Ludhiana 29- Aug, 2011

A monthly meeting of Progressive Pig Farmers Association (PPFA) was held at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana. Pig farmers from different parts of Punjab State participated in this meeting. On this occasion,Dr.HK Verma Head, Department of Veterinary & Animal Husbandry Extension Education said that the discussion on diversification is incomplete without mentioning about pig farming. But the profit from this occupation is only possible if it is operated on scientific guidelines. Veterinary Public Health specialist Dr. Rajnish Sharma, delivered the lecture on zoonotic diseases which can be transmitted from pig to man and their preventive measures. S. Sukhwinder Singh Kotli, President, PPFA has requested the pig farmers of Punjab to join us for further strengthening of PPFA as it will be essential to achieve new heights of the profession. He also thanked the University experts for technical guidance as well as cooperation. The meeting of PPFA is regularly held on every fourth Thursday at University campus and it has about than 200 members. Dr. K.S. Sandhu, Director Extension Education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary & Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana is revealed that University is all out efforts for making pig farming a profitable venture.
