PAU SENDS GREEN SIGNAL THROUGH ON-CAMPUS TREE PLANTATION

LUDHIANA, AUGUST 29:------

Van Mahotsav, with the launch of a tree plantation drive, was celebrated at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) with great fervour. The event was organized by the Estate Organization and Department of Landscaping and Floriculture on the PAU campus. The first sapling of \'Kusum\' tree was planted by the PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Baldev Singh Dhillon. The PAU Registrar, Dean, Postgraduate Studies, Director of Research, Deans of the constituent colleges, Additional Directors and other Officers took part in the drive and planted the trees.

\'The efforts of all of us in the University should be to make PAU clean and green\', said Dr. Dhillon, adding that students and general public should be motivated to work for environment conservation through planting trees and nurturing them. Trees offer numerous benefits of providing clean air, beautifying the campus, providing shelter to birds, etc. He said that every day should be treated as Van Mahotsav and plants should be grown to keep the environment clean.

While thanking the Chief Guest and other dignitaries for participation in the tree plantation drive, Dr. Jaskaran Singh Mahal, Estate Officer said that nearly 250 plants are being planted on the campus.
