PAU KISAN COMMITTEE RE-CONSTITUTED

LUDHIANA, APRIL 21 (Gurzent Saggu)

To involve farmers in the formulation of farm technology generation and dissemination programmes, Dr. Manjit Singh Kang, Vice-Chancellor, PAU has re-constituted the PAU Kisan Committee with nomination of 50 progressive farmers from different districts of Punjab. According to the information provided by the PAU Registrar, Dr. R.K.Mahey, the re-constituted kisan committee has Prabhpal Singh Dhillon (village Kasel) and Avtar Singh (Chugawan) in district Amritsar, Iqbal Singh Sidhu (Doomwali), Jagtar Singh Brar (Mehma Sarja) and Bhupinder Singh (Beer Behman) in district Bathinda, Jasbir Singh Sandhu (Jand Sahib), Jasdev Pal Singh (Chak Sahoo) and Satnam Singh (Kotkapura) in district Faridkot, Paramjit Singh (Jalberi), Jit Singh Randhawa (Randhawa) and Sukhchain Singh (Hansali) in district Fatehgarh Sahib. Dr. Mahey added that the committee has Jaswinder Singh (Kasoana), Sukhpal Singh Hayer (Chak Kala Tibba), Amarjit Singh (Bhure Kalan) and Surinder Kumar Ahuja (Fazilka) in district Ferozepur. From district Gurdaspur, Manjit Singh (Mauj) and Gurdial Singh (Saloopur) are on the list. Jarnail Singh (Nanagal Khurd), Iqbal Singh Randhawa (Fugiana) and Surjit Singh Chaggar (Chaggaran) in district Hoshiarpur are on the committee. The information further said that Gurdev Singh Kamboj (Mehatpur), Kirpal Singh (Moosapur) and Sukhdev Singh (Shadipur) in district Jalandhar and Paramjit Singh (Bhabeana), Mehar Singh Tibba (Tibba) and Tarlochan Singh (Sheikhupur) in district Kapurthala have been included in the committee. Two farmers from district Mansa include Sukhdev Singh (Dalewal) and Rachhpal Singh (Garaganna), two from Mukatsar district namely, Bhai Rahul Singh (Mukatsar) and Varinder Singh (Bheeriwala) are on the committee. The progressive farmers Rachhpal Singh (Keeligandhra) and Gurpreet Singh (Meenian) from district Moga, Ladi Singh (Desu Majra) and Jagjit Singh (Wadala) from district Mohali, Gulzar Singh (Kattoo and Manmohan Singh Sidhu (Barnala) from district Barnala are listed on the committee. Dr. Mahey said that two farmers from district Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar (Avtar Singh Sidhu, Gunachor, Amarjit Singh, Burj Tehal Dass) and three from district Ropar (Prem Singh, Bhurere, Jagjit Singh Wadala and Gurdit Singh Raseedpur) have been placed on the committee. From district Sangrur there are two farmers, Hardev Singh Ghanaur, and Balwinder Singh Longowal while from Tarantaran Manjinder Singh are listed on the committee. District of Patiala is represented by Bhupinder Singh (Nanhera) and Jagjit Singh (Agol) while that of Ludhiana by Amarinder Singh Lakhowal, Devinder Singh Muskabad and Surjit Singh Doraha. The PAU Director of Research, Dr. S.S.Gosal, Dean, College of Agriculture, Dr. D.S.Cheema, Additional Director of Extension Education, Dr. H.S.Dhaliwal, Additional Director of Research, Dr. A.K.Dhawan and Additional Director of Communication, Dr. Jagtar Singh Dhiman are the special invitees to the committee in addition to the Director of Agriculture, Punjab, Cane Commissioner, Punjab, Principal, Chief Conservator of forests, Punjab, Chief Conservator of soils, Punjab, Managing Directors of, Agri- Export Corporation, Punjab, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation, Punjab, PUNSEED, SUGARFED, MARKFED, Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Punjab, Secretary, Punjab State Agricultural Marketing Board, Punjab, Engineer-in-Chiefs of Irrigation, Punjab and PSEB.







The members in the meeting of the PAU Kisan Committee discuss about various issues concerning farm research, technology generation and transfer and provide their feed back to the scientists of PAU. This helps in reprioritization of PAU programmes to make these need-based and as per the requirement of the farmers.
